    Well I'm from Canada and most Canadians would be happy to hear that it's powered by a Canadian turbo shop Pratt & Whitney engine but being an Italian design Americanized helicopter that'll be good but I would take the Canadian Pratt & Whitney engine out of it and put an American engine in it because Canada manufactures stuff to be junk

    It was an interesting experiment. I wish that the Navy hadn't spent so much money on it. Now the focus is on conventional frigates, destroyers, cruisers that cost more money but are much more survivable. I will note that there aren't any LCS in the Red Sea.

    So does any one know the difference between the hangar deck and the sea vessel launching deck? Specifically, is it a third deck below the hangar deck or is it just the aft end of the hangar deck?

    • @JuanLuna-zq6cq
      @JuanLuna-zq6cq 4 месяца назад

      Sea vessel launching deck is in the third deck below the hangar bay

    • @aCycloneSteve
      @aCycloneSteve 4 месяца назад

      @@JuanLuna-zq6cq Yes, someone gave me the official name on another thread but I've already forgotten. 🙂 I don't think it will happen, but when the new America-class helicopter assault ships come online I'm hoping they take the Wasp ones and make a change. Design a modular mechanical process, powered by one of the new, small modular nuclear generators & and make JP-5 and other liquid fuels from air, sea water & electricity. Put all the new equipment on the "well deck" (I think that what I was told it was called after typing for 5 minutes) Convert these ships into oilers/supply ships that stay with the fleet. With no marines on the ship there would be lots of space on the other decks as well. Depending on the tempo of operations, they can provide fuel for the fleet & aircraft and fly in (& off) supplies on NMV-22's. Better still, if Boeing ever finishes development of the areal refueling pod they could be a backup if a full size carrier can't launch or recover aircraft. The replenishment ship could top off the aircraft already in the air with their MV-22's and send them to land bases rather than ditching.

      @dundonrl 2 месяца назад

      @@aCycloneSteve The first two America class (LHA-6 and 7) don't have the well deck, but USS Bougainville LHA-8 went back to having a well deck, because you can't load/offload heavy equipment via helicopters only and really makes the the America and Tripoli not that useful to put Marines ashore. (they are designed more to be Lightning carriers (F-35B Lightning) instead of Ampibous Assault ships.
